Experitest CTO Guy Arieli, joined Joe Colantonio on his podcast TestTalks for a frank and lively interview about end-to-end mobile DevOps.
“If your website sucks, no one really knows about it. This is not the case if you have a bad mobile application.” – Guy Arieli
Guy and Joe discussed the difference between having a bad website, and a bad mobile application. Guy said that a bad application is worse because people will rate it poorly and it will be abandoned. He went on to say that automation testing is of paramount importance. Being able to test on any combination of device, browser, and OS in mobile is essential.
Guy then elaborated on the three main reasons why Enterprise applications fail.
1. Device Fragmentation – The Enterprise failed to test on a specific device / OS combination that is now having issues.
2. Network Condition – Enterprises are neglecting to add tests to make sure that their applications work properly on different mobile networks under different bandwidth and latency conditions.
3. Functional Problems – Unaccounted for errors or bugs in the actual application.
Guy then explained the benefits of the SeeTestNetworkVirtualization tool. The interview ended with Guy giving his tips for scaling mobile testing projects.
